Upcoming Exeter C&I Recycling Plant to Enhance Capacity with Autosort System
24 January 2012 - A new £4.2 million Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Material Recycling Facility (MRF) in Exeter, which is due to become operational in April 2012, has now chosen sensor based sorting equipment specialist TITECH as its technology provider.
The sorting specialist’s NIR (near infrared) dual sensor autosort system allows for maximum value to be extracted from the C&I waste stream, thus effectively diverting it from landfill and increasing recovery of materials for re-sale.
Plant builder McDonald International will install three of TITECH’s autosort optical sorting systems at Devon Contract Waste's 75,000 tonne per annum facility.
Sales & Marketing Manager at McDonald International, Luke Coyle, commented: "The processing of commercial type waste is a massive growth area within the UK and this project will serve as a great reference site for several other plants being considered."
Once operational, the Exeter plant will handle a variety of waste streams, including metals, rigid plastics, wood, plastic film, paper and card. It will be able to process and shred an impressive 14 tonnes of C&I input material per hour.
